For Authors
The George Washington Law Review will reopen for submissions for Volume 95 on February 2, 2026. We are currently open for submissions to our online platform, Arguendo. The guidelines for Arguendo submissions are detailed below.
Law Review Submissions
We accept submissions in two ways. You may submit your article to us through this system. Please note that we strongly prefer submissions through Scholastica. However, you may also email your submission to gwlrarticles@law.gwu.edu. If you choose to email your submission (and do not submit through this system), please include “Direct Submission” in the subject line of your initial submission as well as any subsequent correspondence regarding your submission (including expedite requests) so that we may track the status of your article more efficiently.
Generally, we publish articles that are national in scope. Other selection criteria include timeliness of the topic and strength of the writing. We strongly prefer submissions of no more than 30,000 words.
If you submit an updated manuscript through Scholastica, please withdraw the prior version from consideration.
We look forward to reviewing your manuscripts and appreciate your patience throughout the submission season.
Arguendo Submissions
The Law Review also accepts submissions for its online companion, Arguendo. Arguendo publishes original articles and essays directly to the internet, giving contributing authors an opportunity to contribute to scholarly discourse much sooner than with traditional print legal scholarship. Arguendo publications are syndicated on platforms such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, and HeinOnline.
Please visit the separate Scholastica page for The George Washington Law Review Arguendo here for further information. In general, such pieces should not be longer than 8,000 words, although exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
